Cadence of Camden

I learned this week that the garden I worked with in Camden finally got the chicken coop built. Last week they got Easter chicks and I’m very excited for what the chicks will bring to my neighbors in Camden. The sheer happiness on these boys faces transforms the community of Waterfront South.

A fellow farmer friend of mine, Andrea Ferich, runs Eve’s Garden as a program of Camden’s Center for Transformation.  She works with her community and the greater ecological community to make sustainable economies and places of dwelling. Her blog, Soil and Saints, is a great resource to keep up with the happenings in Waterfront South and the projects she’s working on.

Camden is a place I will always cherish as a home away from home and it’s thanks to people like Andrea, T’Shawn, Mr. Willie, Henry, Mrs. Vanessa, Mrs. Pam, Kaitlin, and the Jr. Farmers that Camden can still sing it’s cadence from 2,700 miles away and be heard. I miss you.
